the boys of fall.

if you know my husband at all,
you'd know that football means a lot to him.
as you've noticed we go to all the BYU fooball games and love it.

he loves playing football,
talking football,
watching football,
reminiscing about football,
fantasy(ing) football,
everything football.

it's fun to hear him talk about his days back in football.
the team, the games, the championship, the experience, etc.
he genuinely loved it.

as we were listening to the radio in the other day, kenny chesney's new song "the boys of fall" came on.
i could tell how much he truly missed those days.
bright lights, friday nights, and all.

we looked back at the words and they just fit so perfectly with casey:

When I feel that chill, smell that fresh cut grass
I'm back in my helmet, cleats and shoulder pads
Standing in the huddle listening to the call
Fans going crazy for the boys of fall
They didn't let just anybody in that club
Took every ounce of heart and sweat and blood
To get to wear those game day jerseys down the hall
Kings of the school man, we're the boys of fall

Well it's turn and face the Stars and Stripes
It's fighting back them butterflies
It's call it in the air, alright yes sir we want the ball
And it's knocking heads and talking trash
It's slinging mud and dirt and grass
It's I got your number, I got your back when your back's against the wall
You mess with one man you got us all
The boys of fall

In little towns like mine that's all they got
Newspaper clippings fill the coffee shops
The old men will always think they know it all
Young girls will dream about the boys of fall

there's no doubt in my mind that our little boys will be out there playing football and throwing a ball around.
i want to see those little boys in BYU jerseys running around when they're 4.
i'm kinda excited for those days.

so here's to football and my husband.
i'm learning to love the first a little bit more because i love the second so much.

Oh boys and football. I swear everytime the guys get together all they talk about is fantasy football. We missed you at game night on Saturday. It was tons of fun! We should have pulled you up on video chat and you could have pretended you were there with us. ;)

Awwwww. I love that song. It so takes me back (okay--I didn't play football:) But, I did cheer for those football boys and that song makes me think back...

And I so hope to watch your handsome boys play for BYU one day! woot woot!
