our saturday

saturday was quite the eventful day for us
we woke up at 7 (on a saturday!? i know, terrible) to start getting ready for dancesport!
by 7:30 casey we were at the ballroom in the wilke and casey was practicing all his moves for his big debut!
he is in the beginning level social dance class here at BYU (and loves it:)
the 180 classes always compete cha cha, and casey did so good!
the 1st round had 12 heats of probably 20 or so couples in each heat, which, yes, was still long but so fun
the 1st time they stood right in front of me and danced but i just watched, i should have taken pics though bc in the next 2 rounds they were way far from me (casey said it was better floor space).
him and his partner were just having fun, which was even more fun to watch
after the 3rd round we raced to his intramural flag football game which means he missed the 4th round they had been called back to :(
casey was a little bummed out he couldn't keep dancing, but football takes priority, ha
luckily they also won their football game!
casey actually had a really good game with some key interceptions, catches, and flag pulling.
twas freezing but still fun to watch
(blogger is not letting me upload these pictures for some reason, mmeh)
after the football game, i drove 20 min to Lehi to work on a slave labot project for a class-
literally slave labor.
an hour later i drove back to dancesport to compete myslef in pre champ smooth, twas fun to dance.
after i competed we watched the colorado get dominated by byu in the football game.
then i drove back to lehi to keep working on that project.
at 5:30 it started getting too dark to work, so with half our project finished we left.

once home, it was only 6:30, but casey and i could have sworn it was 10:30.
so we stayed in, watched a movie, and just hung out together.

woo, what a busy saturday! glad that is over!

ballroom in concert

my team in our Paso Doble costumes (I'm on the bottom 2nd from the right)
my two good friends on one of the other ballroom teams
Kara Hill on left, Andy Seibert on right :)
i don't have my lipstick on and they do :(
my friend Koryl and myself doing the super cool Paso pose...
except for the fact that i"m doing the guy part haha
 whitney and myslef!
she was my amazing latin coach for the semester
she's such a great dancer! i love watching her,
i'll continue striving to be like her one day!
we look like giants in this
M
my team in our finale costumes
i'm bottom right
i was so so so so happy to have some fans out there for one of the performances!
i was lucky to have my mom in town to watch!
and of course my most faithful fan came too :) thanks love!

concert was so great this year!
it was the 50th year of the ballroom dance company so they had a bunch of the alumni tour team members come back and dance! haha, it was great
i think my team didn't do too shabby for itself for a beginning team (hopefully!)
paso isn't my absolute forte but it was so fun doing it still
and the tour team did amazing!
i would so love to be able to perform in those amazing numbers one day!
...if only...if only :)

another weekend of dancing!

but this time way way more dancing!
it's the national dancesport ballroom competition weekend at BYU and it has felt like non stop competitions
i had noive standard, novice latin, prechamp latin, Gold 1 Foxtrot, and Gold bar Tango.
it was way fun though but  my partners and i did well for ourselves mostly
so much makeup, costumes, fake tanning, rhinestones, hair gel, etc, goodness haha
the ballroom bubble :)
i was excited to finally get to dance and do it all
but also excited for it to be over to have my time back to myself again!
casey has been so sweet, he went to all my competitions and was there cheering for me
it's so much easier and more fun to dance when you know at least one person in the huge audience at the marriot center is watching you and wanting you to do well,
things are just so much better when he is around
so far, the big things we've gotten to watch are amateur smooth, amateur standard, and the professinal showcase. all so amazingly disgusting
tonight we'll go back to watch amateur latin and cabaret, so fun:)

it's fun to watch with casey because he has been to enough comps where he most definitely has an opinoin on dancing: good and bad dancers, good and bad costumes, etc :) so fun

here's some pics!
the pretty (and ridiculously expensive) costumes for amateur standard
casey pretending to be my latin partner :)

gotta love ballroom, dance!

in between the dancing of the weekend casey had his first basketball game for the start of tournament- they had a very nice win, casey made bunches of points, i was a proud wife,
we started wacthing all the college basketball conference tournaments,
we took naps,
we played house (aka we finally cleaned up after all the mess dancesport made in our place [casey just has to leave all his makeup and nail polish everywhere goodness!]).

sunday could not come sooner:
relaxation time
family time
pure casey and kimber time :)

and we're dancin

so... i had a ballroom competition this last weekend!
casey was suuch a good sport and got up oober early with me and stayed the whole time
(he kinda has to when he's my husband;)
i competed in novice standard and latin and pre-champ latin.
those dances are as follows: waltz/quickstep, samba/rumba, cha-cha/samba/rumba/paso doble
it was really fun to finally get out there and compete the dances we've been practicing for ages
and it's always fun to dress up!
these pics are of my standard dress
we didn't get any of my latin one
(probably bc casey doesn't want to remember anything about latin, bless his heart)
it was a fun and very tiring day!

if anyone in the utah area is interested, the big ballroom dance competition is at BYU March 11, 12, 13. You're totally welcome to come watch!
And then also, the Ballroom concert is coming up real quick, ask me to get you some tickets!
and i do have videos of all these, but i don't know if i want to put them up haha

cooking for two

after making a real dinner tonight for almost the first time,
casey & i decided to be super ambitious and make cookies with our new kitchen aid!

i told casey to put on an apron for fun and help & he decided the skirt one would be best...
what a guy eh?
the cookies turned out delicioso btw

other happenings of december:

1.) we went to my ballroom dance company dinner which was fun
we looked like quite a cute couple if i do say so myself!
casey heard there was a one plate rule so he PILED up his plate massively,
put rolls in his pockets,
PILED stuff on my plate so i looked like a piggy too,
and then they said you could get a 2nd plate later...
so much for the savageness!

2) During the whole ballroom thing casey was so ancy to leave so we could go to the BYU v ASU basketball right next door!
we made it over before the first half was over and had a blast!
scott and megan went that night too which made it way fun!
2 things made me proud: look at this awesome white-out student section!
and we beat ASU, and they were ranked!
GO COUGS!

3) we finally got our bedding etc!
thanks you everyone for the bed bath and beyond gift cards :)
we both agree it's so much better to have a cute new, fluffy one than casey's...
cowboys bed spread ;)
hehe casey looks funny in this pic :) and his derriere got a bad angle...poor thing

it's these little things in life that really make it happy

ps- casey and i cannot get thesong "grandma got run over by a reindeer" out of our heads!
we just keep singing it and singing it!. mmeh!
(nicole, amy, or brooke: i thought of you as i wrote that mmeh)

1 YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just wanted to state that it has been officially over a year since Kimber and I went on our first date. It started with BYU football and conference. It was so wonderful to be able to go to conference yet again with my sweet Kimber. It has become quite the tradition and I don't know what we will do once my Dad can't get the tickets anymore. Haha I guess we will see what happens when that comes around. But we loved Conference and there were so many talks that touched our hearts. Life is great and we only have a month and a half til we get MARRIED!!!!! Yay! Not only are we so close to being husband and wife, but we have had a lot of fun activities with family and each other. We went to Kimber's opening dance social, where we ate dinner and played some games. My favorite part had to be the food, but also, this little picture because I am totally dressed up like a sailor and I think that it is hilarious with my outfit! Something I am so grateful for is that Kimber is so wonderful in making dinner for us most nights. It is so nice to have home cooked meals! She is just so wonderful and we love the time being able to eat and talk at the end of each day.
