Time out for us

When it was just Casey and I before kids, neither of us felt a very strong pull to go on "dates." In reality everything was a "date." We did everything as just him and I. We had 3 years of constant solo dates.

Then came Maxson. We were infatuated with Maxson. First and only baby, of course take that baby with us to wherever we went! Dinner? Ya! A movie? Ya! Maxson just made everything more fun and we always wanted him to be apart of our time together. So dates were pretty much always all 3 of us, but we liked it that way.

Now comes the twins. After a rough pregnancy, an 11 day NICU/hospital stay, newborn twins at home with Max, school and tests, I felt like I hadn't spent time with just my husband in AGES! After putting Maxson down of the evening, the twins were content downstairs in their pack n play, Casey and I finally just laid on the bed next to each other and took and breather- a moment to connect and just be US! I can't begin to express how nice it was to just laugh and talk and discuss the past few days and weeks with each other with no interruptions. Oh man we were sure needing that break.

I can now foresee lots more babysitters in our future so we have more one on one time with each other. Spending quality alone time with each other is definitely going to be a vital point in keeping each other and our marriage strong and happy. But even when a babysitter isn't available, we'll take 10 minutes just lying on the bed too.

an anniversary

we had the most wonderful anniversary this year. the first 3 years we celebrated our anniversary were fun but let's be honest, it wasn't that much different than the other 364 days of the year. it was just us and it was always just us. but for the last almost year, we've spent a lot of our time and energy helping a certain little boy grow and survive. so this  year it was a day to really really  focus on US. OUR marriage. OUR love. OUR attention on one another. not that the other 3 anniversaries haven't been special but we are in a different league of anniversary's now, i love it so very much.

like all our other years we continually talked to each other during the day of "what were we doing 4 years ago at this exact time." i love doing that. while another single girl friend of ours from dental school watched maxson, we sneaked away to HuHut grill, one of those Mongolian places that cooks the asian food in front of you. we had the sweetest time together asking one another to list the most BLANK in the last 4 years. best road trip, scariest road trip, best activity, best food, biggest regret, and best decision. it was so good to just sit alone with one another, laughing at past experiences and focusing on each other.



we raced home to our sweet little maxson (because an hour away from him was quite enough;) we put him to bed, i baked some cookies to share at the baby shower i then went to for just a little bit. i left the shower early to race to the theater with my sweet husband to watch the new hunger games movie, catching fire! there's something so endearing about holding hands, running through the snow, racing into the theaters together. we were surrounded by college students (very likely single and a little drunk) on all sides, we made up silly stories about the groups and giggled to each other so glad we were married. we held hands and cuddled (as much as you can cuddle in those ver separated movie chairs) riveted by the movie at every point. suddenly it was 12:15 am and our movie was over! we loved it. go see it!!!



we came outside to another more snow dusting the cars and sidewalks (i'm making this sound all peachy perfect, romantic and wonderful but it was FREEZING outside and i was hating nebraska humid winters, that cold just BITES you!). but the night was fantastic. we were reminded how lucky we are to be married to our best friend.

happy 4 years to us, so glad we have an eternity more together!

i remember my wedding day and during the reception thinking how i loved casey way more then than i ever did when we were dating, and that at some point that loved would be something more but i just didn't understand at that time how i could possibly love him more than i did at that moment.

and now i look back and see that our relationship is so much more now than it ever was then, we truly are one unit and i love every aspect of that. our love and commitment is deeper now than it ever has been and it will only grow form here.

i would not have wanted to spend these last 2 years any different.

Remember being here where we spent a Holiday in the sun and enjoyed family and fun with games and great food, oh ya remember the sickness we felt ye not that fun to remember

Remember when we bought you this Hat! Yes you could not resist getting just one you needed 2. It looks cute with this outfit sure does! Ode to Kimber!

Remember when you looked at the camera with this face? I can't remember why you were giving a pouty face, but hey this is the Ode to Kimber so it doesn't matter all that matters is we change it to a smile!

Remember when we wrote our names on the crazy wall of the little deli we ate at downtown Indianapolis. These names will probably sell for millions of dollars one day maybe not to the public, but to our sweet future kids!

Who doesn't remember the Jimmer! Remember how fun this year of basketball was even though we didn't go to many games at home we watched him on TV. Remember when we made it to the sweet 16!

brushing your teeth and vegetables.

last night, as lay in bed, i admitted to casey that i had't brushed my teeth.

you know what he did?

got my tooth brush, put toothpaste on it, brought it to me while i lazily remained in bed, forced it in my mouth, and turned the power on so it started splattering all over my face.

that there ladies and gentlemen, is a man who deeply cares about oral health.

tonight, i force fed casey sweet potatoes and broccoli (that were quite yummy, might i add) while we sat and watched our favorite show.

i literally had a fork up to his mouth with a sweet potato on it,

and each time he would give his best 4 year old idontwantoeatthisfood face.

he would also say in his best pouty voice "no, i don't like vegetables..."

but alas, the sweet potatoes and broccoli were gone.

i think we're just gonna make great parents someday.

since school began

1. what i bought at the grocery store late saturday night: marshmallow matey's (we've got to survive people!), milk, peanut butter, jelly, wheat thins, bananas, and carrots. that is correct people, we've been living off of cereal and pb and j's this week. we rock.

2. we're in a bowling class together together (we love it). going through the class role the 1st day the teacher calls
"casey cutler?"
"here."
"kimber cutler."
"here."
"...are you two brother and sister?"
"husband and wife..."
ya, we rock.

3. remember how much we love our apartment and practically sold our souls to get back in it for this semester? we forgot how horrible that place is in the summer and late august/early sept = summer! that dang atti turns into an oven!! ha, but we're surviving with 3 fans placed in all the windows and a swamp cooler that turns our bedroom into a little ice box! we can't wait for fall/winter!

4. more on our humble attic: i think a bomb went off. with school and work, there has been no time to unpack and organize. we actually ate our cereal the first 2 days with the same spoon and large fruit bowl bc that's all we could find! if we do need to find something (usually in the wee hours of the morning when we're late to school), we tear through boxes like it's christmas morning and leave quite the noticeable trail...

5. we love our jobs. we most definitely missed our jobs. worst part of our job: seeing people you know but can't remember their name! it's so embarrassing and i'm horrible at it!!! and trust me, i see tons of people. if they don't remember my name, i've got a badge on so they don't have to feel stupid like me. but seriously, give me a break people!!! (espeacially you people i' haven't seen in 2 years!). all that matters is that i remembered them and my (fun) experiences with them, right?

6. do you remember years ago when i showed a picture of our new bed and it was on the ground? well guess what?! our bed isn't on the ground anymore! we don't have to live like savages!!! yay for our landlord buying a bed frame, and most importantly, a queeen box spring that splits apart so it fit up the attic stairs!!!

7. fact: for the first time ever i dropped a class bc the book was too expensive and i decided there was too much work in there that i sincerely did not want to do. heh heh.

8. today i was 10 minutes late to class bc i thought i was going to ride my bike to school and when i got on my bike both tires were flat. boooooo.

9. in the 1 hour's time we did have to unpack, we stopped and looked at our photo album from last year for 20 10 minutes. i am so excited for fall!!!!!!

10. this morning when i left for school, i woke casey up for a kiss, a prayer, another kiss and a goodbye like usual. but today after he said goodbye, 45 seconds later while i'm rustling around in the room he started mumbling goodbye again in his sleep. another reason how he keeps me smiling and happy when he doesn't even try to. thanks dearest husband of mine.

ps- why do i have time to write this when my house is a disaster and homework isn't done? waiting between classes thank you very much

so how old are you?

fact: i'm married

fact: i've been married a year and a half

fact: i'm 20 (although sometimes i may fib and say i'm 21:)

this is probably the first environment i've been around that looks at me strangely bc i'm so young and married but i don't have any kids, gasp! it's far more acceptable and reasonable around here to have kids at my age, but not be married, what's up with that? 

probably half or more of the girls i work with at kohl's have kids, and these girls are pretty much my age and not married! crazy! so in our conversations something will come up about "my husband..." and in awe they say "you're married!? how old are you?" those are the literal words that come out of their mouth everytime, ha. i've heard of plenty experiences like these where when you come out to the east, everyone is just flabbergasted that such a "young, pretty girl" would be married!

i love being married. i absolutely love it. there's one person in this world who cares about all the details of my life each day and doesn't get bored of me sharing them. and there's one person in this world that i know so many things about and i learn of his day everyday and how it went. we are literally best friends. it is just such a blast to be together and share so many things together! everyone should get married i say :)

i am so happy i married as young as i was, there's that many more fun things we can share together! like seriously, how many couples get to go skydiving together? or college together (ok, maybe lots there, but we have literally been in each other's lives since the 2nd day we came to BYU). i'm so happy we get such a long time to be together, just he and i, at this young age, while being married. this time is literally priceless together.

i'll be sad the day we leave provo bc provo is literally our home, it will have been our home together for nearly 4 years! provo will hold a special place in my heart forever. and whenever i drive into that wasatch valley, i will feel like i'm coming home.

so in conclusion, those indianans who think i'm crazy for getting married so young, i smirk and think to myself "you don't know what you're missing out on"

he's back.

i'm a very happy girl to say the least.

our reunion was joyous.

mexico found its way to provo, who knew!!!

i had heard from a few guys in my major that the (ghetto) supermarket in provo called rancho market

actually has some insanely good mexican food inside!

like, the grocery store has a little restaurant place in the back,

so on thursday
we went,

we conquered, 

and it was insanely delicioso!

we couldn't believe how good it tasted, really,

and their "meal combos" are ginormoso!

we split 1 and had leftovers for a full dinner the next day.

it felt like we were back in mexico:

people speaking espanol left and right,

crazy cool mexican packaged cookies, crackers, and other foods,

TONS of fresh/weird meats,

tiny aisles,

and latinos everywhere!

ha, we were literally the only white people in the place.

favorite part: the tortilla maker guy in the back- happy smiley just tossing the tortillas everywhere!

we couldn't help but smile the whole time at the atmosphere and the feel.

go try it out sometime!

for dessert we hit up macey's and got us some  50 cent ice cream cones.

casey got cherry dipped (gross)

on another note:
we got shutdown hardcore friday night:
tried seeing tangled at the BYUish movie theater: sold out
drove to the dollar theater to see tangled: sold out all night
went over to get coldstone: the line was out the door and we're impatient people
drove up to university mall's coldstone: again, line out the door.
drove to smith's to get the movie red bc we saw it in their redbox earlier that evening: casey went in to come out with no success.

we hate provo

at that time we decided
a) so glad we're not single anymore to have to worry about dates going as planned and trying to impress the other person but instead being able to throw a fit get a little grumpy bc what you wanted to work out totally did not.
b) go home and give-up

casey actually ended dropping me off at home while he wen to see if the redbox at 7-11 had red.
he came back with the movie and hot chocolate.
i threw some of them pillsbury dough boy cinnamon rolls in the oven, and we called it a good night.
after the movie ended i fell asleep on the couch, cuddle up to casey while he played video games til 2 am
all in all, friday night turned out good.

Our Christmas decorations are now complete!

Facts about our tree this year:

-it will only be up 1 week for us to see/enjoy...sad.

-it is fake...sad, i know, but it was a wedding gift last year and still works wonderfully

-our "star" on top is a compilation of star ornaments we had

-ornaments are from my childhood and we hope that next year we can get casey's too!

i really do wish christmas season lasted longer, 2 months would suit me perfectly :)

let them eat cake

ok, so other than the fact that the origin of that phrase is horrid,

i do love cake :)

in fact we ate the top of our wedding cake last week!

and guess what? it was totally yummy still!!

crazy, huh? it was so yummy a year later, i really wish i remembered how yummy it was the day of!

last week

like i mentioned earlier, we had so many things going on last week i didn't have a spare moment to blog!

the list goes as follows: 

4 test/quizzes for casey in organic chemistry (which=hard) and physiology (which=hard), he did fabulous.

5 test/quizzes for kimber in random classes

we tried going to fatcats for our free bowling bc the cougars scored over 30 points at their game 2 weeks,

they're dumb and didn't let us bowl bc it was past 9. boo

another night we went to texas road house bc it just opened here in orem!

pretty much we went so we just go eat all their rolls!

i'm pretty sure we got...8 batches...yummy!

and what we did order, we took home in left over boxes.

ps- texas roadhouse=fun suckers bc they don't let you take pictures inside except if the server is taking it of you. boo

but the cherry limeade and rolls made it worth it

then we went to the opening of HARRY POTTER!

we were beyond excited

we went with the best group possible of harry potter fans.

we're so happy nicole and brookie let us come along

activities included playing harry potter trivia and casting spells at other muggles.

the movie was wonderful too.

it stayed true to the book and did not disappoint a bit.

we loved it!

casey and i also had football games this week which we both lost :(

but, it was still fun to play!

i also had a relief society sleepover that i got to go to with the women in my ward,

seriously, such a blast.

best activity yet!

we stayed up way later than needed, played fun games, had lots of great converstations,

only had the fire alarm go off for 15-20 min, and just had the best time ever.

a cute girl in our ward, rachel, had a family cabin in midway we got to go to, no pic.

it was great to be able to just talk to all the women and not just for 2 hours and then have to go home.
