tv shows- gotta hate em, gotta love em

confession:
this year, i have a lot of shows i keep atop of.
i'm not ashamed.
i waste none of my time, bc i watch them while i work.
i'd be doing nothing anyways!
thank you hulu..

Once Upon a Time.

um, hello, isn't everybody watching it?
it's pretty much the best show to hit abc in a long time.
there's a group of girls in the ward that get together every wednesday and we watch it together.
and have the best time, too.
instead of book club, it's show club!
ha, we get together, talk about last week's show,
what could be this week's show,
share with one another our bright insights,
gasp over the show,
talk about the show,
and guess what's gonna happen!
i look forward to every wednesday night now!
so there's like 45 minutes of the show, and like an hour added girl time,
it's simply my favorite.

The Office.

we still think it's crazy hilarious.
we gone keep watching it, thank you very much.

Modern Family.

why have i not heard about this show earlier.
i'm dying over it!
so in love, and so funny!!!!

Up All Night

I aint no parent,
but i believe this show to be somewhat true to the ups and downs of parenthood.
rock paper scissoring over diaper changes?
definitely laugh out loud on those.

Biggest Loser

this season is way better than last
casey gives excellent negative commentary the whole time,
it's as if we're watching a sports game or something
(i can only imagine what he'd be like during bachelor, ha!)
we still love it.
and we love some of the players.

Downton Abbey

k, i've only started watching it this week,
but i will undoubtedly be watching the rest of the season.
WWI rich aristocrats with war and gossip and life?
yes please!
thank you PBS/BBC with supplying me the episodes...

so...
am i the only crazy one who watches these shows?
do you any of you guys love/ hate any of them?

and no, i'm sorry, i don't watch bachelor anymore,
too much of the same thing every season for me...

skiing vs snowboarding

Photobucket

i tried skiing again last friday for the first time in about 10 years!
i've kinda been wanting to learn how to ski again for awhile now.
i love snowboarding, i really do,
it's just that when you're with a bunch of skiiers and you're the only boarder, it's just easier to ski like everyone else.
and it's nice to know that you can easily do both.

so i borrowed a friend's set of skis and we went up to sundance for the day!
luckily it was decent snow.

it was actually way fun!
it was like going up to sundance for the first time all over again.
i knew the trails but it was a whole different experience,
you know, the whole, "am i gonna fall or not" feeling etc.

i picked up on it pretty quick surprisingly, and didn't fall for a long while.
once we got to the back mountain, i fell THREE times on the same spot everytime we went down the mountain.
i'd lie if each time i fell i didn't get all huffy and puffy and upset and cry, ha.
after about the first 5 seconds of being mad, i laughed at myself of my stupidity!
why the freak was i crying? it was my first time skiing!
i just didn't want to fall, it did make it worse that it was the same spot.

other than those 3 falls, i did pretty darn well, i'd say, for my first day.
not much pizzaing over here, rock on kimber!

let's get to the important stuff here.
snowboarding vs skiing.
what's better.

i've compiled a list of pros and cons for you all:

skiing is easy to first learn and catch onto.
snowboarding is hard to first learn and catch onto.

skiing is harder to get really good at.
snowboarding is easy to get really good at.

skiing has way more stuff you have to carry: TWO poles and TWO skis, it gets a little hard to carry.
snowboarding has ONE thing to carry, it's easy.

ski boots are heavier than snowboard boots.

it's hard to fall skiing.
it's easy to fall snowboarding.

when you fall skiing, it's like a train reck.
when you fall boarding, it's no big deal.

it's super easy to get off a lift in skis.
it's super easy to fall getting off the lift on a snowboard.

it's hard to inch down the mountain in skis.
it's easy to inch down the mountain on a snowboard.

it's hard to go down really steep mountains on skis.
it's easy to go down really steep mountains on a snowboard.

it's easy to always be in control on skis.
it's not as easy to learn to always be in control on a snowboard.

you pretty much never sit down skiing.
you pretty much always will have to be on your bum at some points of snowboarding (ie- putting your strap on or waiting for others.)

i'd say those other the major points i learned from the day.

will i ski again?
yes

will i snowboard again?
yes

over and out!

and the end picture of the cupcake?
that was my reward for skiing for the day.

so how old are you?

fact: i'm married
fact: i've been married a year and a half
fact: i'm 20 (although sometimes i may fib and say i'm 21:)
Photobucket
this is probably the first environment i've been around that looks at me strangely bc i'm so young and married but i don't have any kids, gasp! it's far more acceptable and reasonable around here to have kids at my age, but not be married, what's up with that?

probably half or more of the girls i work with at kohl's have kids, and these girls are pretty much my age and not married! crazy! so in our conversations something will come up about "my husband..." and in awe they say "you're married!? how old are you?" those are the literal words that come out of their mouth everytime, ha. i've heard of plenty experiences like these where when you come out to the east, everyone is just flabbergasted that such a "young, pretty girl" would be married!

i love being married. i absolutely love it. there's one person in this world who cares about all the details of my life each day and doesn't get bored of me sharing them. and there's one person in this world that i know so many things about and i learn of his day everyday and how it went. we are literally best friends. it is just such a blast to be together and share so many things together! everyone should get married i say :)

i am so happy i married as young as i was, there's that many more fun things we can share together! like seriously, how many couples get to go skydiving together? or college together (ok, maybe lots there, but we have literally been in each other's lives since the 2nd day we came to BYU). i'm so happy we get such a long time to be together, just he and i, at this young age, while being married. this time is literally priceless together.

i'll be sad the day we leave provo bc provo is literally our home, it will have been our home together for nearly 4 years! provo will hold a special place in my heart forever. and whenever i drive into that wasatch valley, i will feel like i'm coming home.

so in conclusion, those indianans who think i'm crazy for getting married so young, i smirk and think to myself "you don't know what you're missing out on"

oh what's in a name

A LOT

a lot is in a little name!- even if it's only 3 letters (i.e. Bob:)
you know that book "how to win friends and influence people" by Carnegie?
he says that's a big step: knowing people's name!
everyone loves their name
everyone wants to hear their name
and it feels good when someone unexpected remembers your name (i.e.- our bishop from last semester?! amazing!)

i try.
but so many times i fail miserably.
but casey is good. i seriosuly don't know how he does it!

with our job we see a lot of people all the time,
let's be honest, pretty much everyone goes into the library at some point, and casey and i sit there and watch them (btw- please do not bring jamba juices or pizza etc- you cannot eat it. AND you can only eat in the snack zone, por favor y gracias :)

there's people i see and kinda know, sometimes i know their name, sometimes not.
there's even people i see and LOVE, most the time i know their name, but sometimes i don't!
i hate it!
why can't you remember their darn name kimber?

on another note, it's the 2nd day of school!
i am so glad i've reached the point where i literally am excited for my classes.
i love my major and want to learn more, the stuff is seriously so amazing!
casey on the other hand...organic chemistry and other mean/boring classes,
you can do it babe!
but we did get lucky enough to have our religion class together!
church history 1800-1830 from the infamous susan e black herself.
legend has it she wanted to retire a few years ago, an apostle called her up and said "the lord wants you to keep teaching" talk about pressure on not getting to retire, ha
but she's incredible
we are so fortunate to have LDS religion classes required in our education and have such amazing professors!
they are undoubtedly some of my most life changing classes

on 1 more note, casey and i did our first legit coupon shopping experience yesterday! so fun!
i'm so glad he does it with me b/c it's so much more fun together! it's like a treasure hunt!
should've spent $60, only spent $23 :)
got a few freebies, a few cheapies, and few just good prices on things we needed.
we were happy and pleased with ourselves!

customer service

just a reminder to us all.

when you're calling/talking to someone about customer service stuff etc mainly about something you're a tad bit unhappy about,
i hope we all remember that they are most likely not your problem.
somewhere, someone else is, not the pithily little person who takes phone calls and stands behind the desk.
do not threaten them.
do not yell at them
do not tell them all the dumb things you plan to do if you do not get your way.
do not be dumb.
again, they are not the cuase of your problem.

just sayin.

just sayin

when i go anywhere, I order what they make.
i.e.: when i go to a burger place i get a burger, not their tacos
when i go to a breakfast place i get breakfast, not a dinner
when i go to a snow cone place, i get a snow cone, not a smoothie
when i go to a cupcake place, i get a cupcake, not hot chocolate
you feeling my drift?
that's just what i do, thought i'd share.
i was just wondering what people do that!?!?!?!?!
many of you probably do and i'm just the weirdo, and you know what, that's ok :)

i love, love, love the new dark kiss flavor from bath and body works,
love it
go get some now!!!

arizona has way so many political commercials on right now!
ridiculous
i could give a few opinions on the election right now but won't :)

got my first class email today!
for stats :(
i was excited and mortified at the same time, ha

casey and i have gone to bahama bucks 3 times already,
he's obsessed.
it's funny

IT.IS.DARN.HOT
enough said

although a little monsoon here and there is making it way better!
i love hot rain.
i love a hot breeze.
i love the smell of the wet arizona desert.

and thanks mom for fixing my clothes, you're great

best meal of the day...

breakfast.
why do i say this?
because breakfast foods often = sugar and that just makes me happy
it's like the main meal is dessert.
i love it

decorating opinons

so, this is my own perosnal opinon
not trying in anyway to hurt your feelings.

firstly.
vintage can look cute,
way cute.
i agree with everyone on that point.
went to an antique store and wanted to purchase many a cute things
didn't though bc their price tags are not so cute

but sometimes it gets out of hand,
like that room looks like a yucky old person's house look.
like you just bought a bunch of stuff that's horribly, terribly used look.
getting my drift?

so, next time you or i, feel like decorating a room/adding stuff to it
let's ask ourselves, is this cute-old or ugly-old?

secondly.
white rooms are beautiful.
white sheets.
white compforters.
white pillows.
white rugs.
white chairs.
white curtains.
the whole she-bang,
it makes a beautiful combination for a room.

but let's be real here.
it's not going to stay white for long,
it's probably going to become off white,
and you're going to have to work on cleaning stuff a lot more.
the combo just isn't realistic, sadly enough.
so dear white rooms:
our relationship is never going to work out,
it's not you, it's me

the saga...

yes, i'm talking about this.
haha, we like it.

and i just had to share this when i saw it :)

ps- why be on "team jacob?"
my brother said it well, "it's like watching the re-run of a football game and cheering for the the team you know who's going to lose in the end!"
true or what!?

so you will all know that on the 30th of June 2010,
casey and i will be at the theaters if work permits :)

dear anthropologie,

dear anthropologie,
why is everything in your store so pretty and SOOOOO TERRIBLY, RIDICULOUSLY, UNBELIEVABLY EXPENSIVE!?!?!?!?!

as i was looking at like every category on the site, my thoughts ranged from "oh this is cute" "oh, love it" "goodness, that's adorable" and "that would look great in my house" (but a few times i thought "pshhhhh, i could make that" pshh, i could find almost that exact same thing cheaper" or  "actually those are ugly (the rugs)") And then i thought, hmm, maybe someday if casey and i have sufficient funds for our family i can spend a little extra here and there on clothes, shoes, accessories, and cute things for the house at anthro. and then i was like "ok kimber. let's be real. are you really going to spend large amounts of money on things like clothes and hosue stuff or save that money for trips and experiences and traveling with casey and family (and kids)? yeah, you can bet which was my answer.

moral of the story: you're dumb anthro. it's not me, it's you. we can never really be friends. sorry

oh yeah, one more,

dear ikea,
you're more expensive than i thought. boo :(
