Halloween 2017

Halloween was just wonderful with my littles. Holidays are so much more special and magical with children around! I loved every second! It started out with Grammie and Grandpa's ward trunk or treat.  That was the first time we got to dress up as aa family and it was so fun. I'm so glad the boys talked me out of the costume I wanted to do, instead we were the Avengers! Casey-Hulk, Kimber- Black Widow, Maxson- Iron Man, Bryson- Captain America, Quinn- Spiderman, Easton- Thor. Everyone was so stinking cute in their costumes (thanks Goodwill finds!). I loved that the twins caught onto the phrase "avengers, Assemble!" but would say " Abengers, assemble!" The kids loved their first chance of trick or treating (in the freezing cold) to all the cars!

While Casey was out of town with Max in Utah, i took the twins and Easton downtown Rock Springs to trick or treat around there, it wasn't a cold day so that was a relief. We happened to meet up with the Barrows which made walking around so fun. By the the end (not even finishing all the businesses) Quinn and Bryson were saying "I'm tired, I want to go home" haha, so we stopped. That's so cute about little kids and trick or treating. Kids are too tired to get tons of candy, ha!

Sunday night we carved pumpkins at the in Green River with the family, Tayli helped us and it was so fun. Watching then boys pulling out all the guts, making fun eww and gross faces, Easton constantly picking up knives and wanted to be in all the action sitting on everyone's pumpkins, Tayli cutting a huge hole in her pumpkin cutting out her ghost on accident, after mAx carved his pumpkin all by himself! he then claimed my pumpkin as his, lol. I love the smell of carving pumpkins :)

On Monday, we all got to go to Maxson's preschool Halloween party where they sang the spooky ABC's, the creepy crawly spider, dead bones, 5 little pumpkins. I love his little preschool and he does too! We were lucky that Casey got to come too.

Monday evening we made dinner in a pumpkin and invited the Luthi's and Larson's over. Everyone was little skeptical of dinner but it tasted delicious.

And then to Halloween day! We made mummy hot dogs, did Halloween handprints on our canvases, and then got ready for trick or treating, the main event! Unfortunately it was quite a cold and windy night! But we did an intense round of tri-ward trunk or treating at our church, I got to hand out candy and it was so fun seeing all the trick or treaters come by and happily hand out candy! Once the kids got too cold, they got in the car with me (I was actually in Emily Jenkins car because it's more fun with a friend) and LOVED helping hand out candy! We then came home, and took the kids just to about 8 houses on our street to see some neighbors, it was the most GORGEOUS sunset! But so windy and cold, the kids were practically crying because their hands hurt they were so cold, so we made it down to the Larrsens and came back home!

After back the kids dumped out ALLLLL their candy and boy was it a lot! Not quite sure what we're going to do with it all! Easton kept swiping suckers and walked around with one in his mouth and holding another in a hand haha, we'd take them away but he kept finding more suckers to swipe! I took the big boys to to the fire station for their large size candy bar which they loved and we picked up some Little Caesar's pizza. The boys ate way too much candy and went to bed way too late but we all had a very fun Halloween day! Casey and I watched the Nightmare before Christmas (my first time ever watching!) and called it a night. Except we had so much fun looking at facebook and instagram of all our friends cute costumes! There were so  many cute family themed ones, I loved it!

Happy Halloween!

For me, Halloween is one of the BEST facebook days of the year. Unlike mother's day when it's pictures of everyone's mom or Easter when it's pictures of everyone in nice Sunday clothes, Halloween is when everyone posts their FUN and DIFFERENT and WITTY and SURPRISING Halloween costumes! It's like a surprise everytime I open my newsfeed! I absolutely love it! People are so creative and kids are adorable and adults can be hilarious. Here's some of my favorite local friends cute costumes I couldn't help but share and remember!

A quick trip to the pumpkin patch!

Casey was going to a BYU football game one Friday night so I and the kids hitched a ride down to Utah with him so we could go to a pumpkin patch!

The kids were awful in the car, not going to lie. That's life.

It was a late game so we left right after Casey got home from work, 5, and then booked it to Provo to drop him off at the game where he met his dad. They have season tickets to the games this year. Poor Bryson must have gotten car sick and threw up around Heber, poor boy.

I got to Weston and Amanda's house around 8:45 where Max and Bryson were alseep. I dragged my 7 1/2 month pregnant body up and down the stairs so many times taking up sleeping kids and sleeping items with Quinn crying behind me because I wasn't holding him and it was a new place and he wasn't so sure about the surroundings, ha. His crying eventually woke up and Bryson unfortunately and I then had two cranky mischievous babies with me for the next hour until they were ready to go to bed again. Poor Weston and Amanda, I bet their stress levels were high because my kids compared to theirs are just two different levels of chaos, lol. I ended up having to sleep on the ground with them until they fell asleep at 10:15 pm.

Casey got him from a LATE double overtime BYU game at 1:30, they won, yay! In the morning we played with Abby, Britton, and Ella. Max LOVED playing with Britton, just adored him. My twins tormented their dog. we walked to the park behind their house with all the kids and played for awhile, jumped on the tramp, Weston made pancakes, and we just had a nice time with those sweet nieces and nephew and our kids!

We quickly packed up and headed to a small pumpkin patch right there in Springville! It was perfectly small for our group of little kids. Weston and Amanda met us there with their kids too! They loved the slide the most going up and and over and over again. I personally loved the huge corn pit the most. They climbed up large bales of hay, saw a little petting zoo, Max got lost in the huge corn maze for a few minutes because he ran off, oh goodness. We went on a tractor ride through their pumpkin field and a little of the cornfield too. Max picked out a white pumpkin and we called it a morning! Nice and sweet! Plus since our kids woke up so early we really needed to get them back in the car to drive back to Wyoming so they's actually sleep the whole time! But really we had the best time!

So funny these two went down together and bryson face planted and got a face full of corn lol

It was a fun little morning and quick trip to Utah but it was fun to see family and do all the fun pumpkin patch stuff!

Happy Halloween!

We were so excited to dress up this year! Oh the possibilities of all the family members! Our big bad wolf was none other than our Patriarch Casey, 3 adorable little pigs, 1 brick house, and 1 split house of both stick and straw (with Sprinkles as the roof because Katie's father brings us excess amounts of random things like sprinkles)

We first went trick or treating at the dental school which was oh so much fun. In true Dental fashion we loaded ourselves up on toothbrushes! Maxson also got LOADS of candy from all the sweet employees. Casey's was so excited to take our family around to everyone he knew. They were all dressed up as "worker bees", it was super cute.
That night we went to trunk or treat at the church. It was kind raining though so it got moved into the gym and was COMPLETELY CHAOTIC. Ha, way too many people in a small area. The line was essentially at a stand still going around the room since there were so many people. But it was still fun to see all our ward friends and family!
 Bryson // Straw house side
 Stick house side
Quinn was obsessed with the candy bowl

I didn't get to take pictures of all our friends' family costumes like I usually do which was a bummer because there were so many good ones! These were the only ones I got, The despicable me gang and a cute little tortoise and the hare :)

COSTUME DETAILS

PIGS:
Pink shirts borrowed from neighbors and SIL, overalls, pig hats from here (for less than $4! each)

WOLF:
Red flannel shirt, fur from Joann's pinned onto chest, ankles, and wrists, wolf hat from Goodwill.

HOUSES:
Diaper boxes, tape together one side of flaps to make longer, on the other end cut off two flaps for arms to go through and shape for arm pit shape to feel more comfortable, use those two cut off flaps to connect over shoulders and tape like crazy! We just painted the brick house, used regular old sticks for the stick house (with  TON of Elmer's glue), and corn husks found in a corn field for the straw house (again a ton of glue!)

My hopes are that the wolf and pig hats can be used for years to come in dress up!

Halloween 2014

I present Max and his wild thing from Where the Wild Things Are.
As soon as Maxson began totally loving the book where the wild things are months ago, I thought it would be so fun to dress up as characters from it. Alas, I was induced 10 days before Halloween and hadn't worked a ton on our costumes. So the night before the induction, I stayed up late working on their costumes. Thank goodness my mother came in town and put all the finishing touches on them for me! They sent me tons of pictures from before and during the trunk or treat and I was smiling from ear to ear looking at these two. I love that Casey was just as excited to dress up.

The Welch's as Mary Poppins and Bert
 Maxson's really cute tail.
The Blomstedts as Wizard of OZ characters
My mom was so nice to FaceTime me during a bunch of the trunk or treat including the actual walking around part of candy gathering, my momma heart was so happy and grateful to be apart of that night. I loved watching my little Maxson (who really should have been a Wild Thing himself because he sure was WILD that night!)
The twins and I got home Halloween morning. I made sure we ran to store that afternoon to pick up pumpkins to carve; tradition had to stay alive plus I wanted to see Maxson's reaction to touching the pumpkin seeds and slime inside, ha.

He wouldn't touch any of it. Ha, he completely refused, even when we told him it was like worms! I was really surprised.
It was a great family activity
A great family activity until Maxson was running away from us on the couch and fell onto a baby :(
I cut out the top, Casey scraped the inside, and my mom cut the face out. It was definitely a team work pumpkin.

Intermission for cute baby picture. I think Quinn...
Out for a quick trick or treating! It was literally freezing that night, totally stunk. We went to just 2 of our neighbors houses for fun. Max had just as much fun running to answer the door for trick or treaters. He was also off the wall this night and trunk or treat night from so much candy! SO much as in two suckers… crazy boy.

 Family picture!

Costume Details:

Maxson: Max.
Crown from Burger King spray painted gold.
Fur from Joann's for tail and a piece around crown.

Whiskers pipe cleaners hand stitched on

Casey: Wild Thing
Sweat shirt turned inside out.

It was such a fun Halloween. Next year we'll have a full family of 5 to dress up with! Also I'm so done with having all this candy around, it's driving me nuts how much Maxson asks for it/how much I eat it! But dear old dad insists we keep it around, blah.

Happy Halloween!

more on halloween

i couldn't resist sharing some of my friend's costumes.
they were so cute this year!

i will shamelessly post another picture of our dental family.
we had lots of fun this year in our costumes.
casey stood by the the trunk of our friend's car where we combined forces in candy and sad to all the kids walking by "do you have any teeth for me!?"
he was very proud of his costume.
people kept saying they couldn't believe i could get casey to wear this and i kept thinking "uh, you don't know my husband, he loves this stuff!"
casey borrowed his costume from a girl in his dental class, i taped paper teeth onto his "wand"
i sewed pillow cases in the shape of teeth and stuffed them with pillow stuffing, and put my graduation cap to good use.

i bought a scrub shirt, minimized the whole thing to fit maxson and sewed a tooth onto the pocket

 photo IMG_5641copy_zps23ded822.jpg

unlike last year, there were lots of families and parents who dressed up, not just the kids, which made it so much more fun.
it was a little dreary and cold out but still fun to see everyone dressed up and happy!

ps- a note on halloween. i love halloween, i really do, it's another fun reason to do fun things. what i don't like: kids who trick or treat not in costumes. i SERIOUSLY do not want to give them candy!!!! is that just me?
