a list of 10

1. CASEY PASSED HIS BIG DENTAL EXAM LAST MONTH! it's kinda a big deal so it deserved all caps. i never properly mentioned that big bit of happiness on the blog when it happened, but he did. so proud of that husband, hello year 2 of dental school!

2. the past couple weeks maxson waves hi and goodbye when asked to, now i'm eager whenever we get to and leave events/gatherings just so i can get him to do it. it's so precious. high fives (technically low fives) and kisses are also received when asked, can't believe he's learning the actions that goes along to words!

3. when we got back from our trip casey's bike was stolen. it was so so so sad. a) it was his mission bike b) it had the hitch to the bike trailer we own is on it. i hope whoever stole it really really REALLY needed it and is putting it to good use because we sure are sad (kimber's mad, let's be honest here) about the whole situation

4. it's so fun to be back with friends. we love our all our friends on our street and in our ward, we're so richly blessed here.

5. getting home from our trip meant all maxson's toys are so cool, and new, and interesting again! i love it as does maxson!

and now the weekend:

6. we had the most wonderful night with dental friends last weekend, the most delicious shish kabobs with sweet corn and potato salad, fruity pebble treats, a 15 min watching of the beloved movie spirit, and a hilarious game of buzzword. notes on the game: casey's math skills of keeping track of points in his head are sometimes a little off compared to mine, audrey was the most wonderful reader ever, her baseball sign language in favor of the girls team was at its peak, according to her husband. turtle sampling does not mean you go sample turtles to eat. if tall women want to get married, they shouldn't wear tall heels, according to a tall woman's father that is :) maxson is still pro at balancing on casey's hand,.

7. we played softball from 8-5 on saturday and i am all soft balled out for the year. more on that later!

8. it was a year ago this time that i began meeting all of my now nebraska friends. and from what i learned after reminiscing of our first memories of meeting each other my bright red and pink lipstick is not the best of first impressions i guess? ha, that never crossed my mind.

9. we sure are wondering if maxson is pushing some teeth through because BOY was he crabby and whiney today! and that snotty nose? came out of nowhere and ran all day long, come on little teethers!

10. church was great, as always today. new friends came with us, maxson was quite the wiggle worm during sacrament meeting but friends all around made for easier entertainment, i helped teach the CTR 5 class, maxson and our neighbor's little girl that's about the same age chatted non stop during the 3rd hour together, wish i had been around to see it.

and that's my 10!

things we did on sunday

1. went to church. lucky for us, there was no bread for the sacrament, so although we should have been "late" church started late and we were on time, oh yeah.

2. i subbed in the nursery again today. some of those kids make me laugh and i want to play with them all day, and then some kids make me want to pull my hair out/give them back to their parents asap. i hope my children end up in the first category for others.

3. while i was in the nursery with the little little kids, maxson took a nap in the arms of the sweetest lady visiting our ward for the summer and then continued to play with him during the third hour, so sweet of her.

4. facetimed with my mom for a little bit while maxson slept.

5. maxson was unusually overly whiny after hid nap, so we went outside on the blanket to play with toys. every time a car would pass by his eyes were on it like a hawk. one day all my caveman talk of "car! look, car! that's a car!" while pointing at objects will pay off and he'll understand what a car is.

6. i biked to my friend's house with maxson for dinner.

7. casey met us there after his additional church appointments for the most scrumptious totally from scratch dinner with homemade rolls and even two different desserts. best part about it was a full belly with no dishes at my house!

8. lounging, talking, and laughing with friends while watching maxson crawl everywhere

9. everyone played the newest casey-favorite game of cornhole in the front yard while i fed maxson food in the bumbo

10. we all raced over to the stake center for a special missionary fireside of uplifting hymns about the restoration of the gospel. throughout i was either standing up with maxson, letting him crawl places, or he was being passed to and fro from our friends.

11. cookies afterward while catching up with other friends who went

12. wrote a novel like email to a friend about more cloth diaper opinions
13. before going to bed, i peeked in on max and watched his limp body just breathing there softly, sleeping in baby land, so sweet and content. oh how i love that child of mine
14. fell asleep cuddling next to the man i love dearly.

it was a wonderful, typical sunday in the cutler home.

our last 5 days:

monday was the most beautiful day in utah.

march 5 (miss camille's birthday) had temperatures above 60!

SIXTY people!

that's only 10 degrees less than what arizona's got going on.

wowza.

on sunday you could tell there was a wee change in the weather when you drive past the colony and their were an absurd amount of scantily clad women (and men) sun bathing.

sunday was indeed festivous for us.

1. stake conference in the de jong conference hall at BYU.

a beautiful meeting.

as we stood up to sing the intermediate hymn (for a break to awaken the sleepyheads),

i was in tears.

for you see, we had quite a few couples in front of us, mostly people with no kids.

everyone had a spouse.

everyone was hand-in-hand or arms around one another.

and as we sang the spirit of god, i couldn't help but think

"this is what it's going to be like in heaven, i hope. happily hand-in-hand with the one you love."

it truly was beautiful.

2. went to grandpa and fran christensen's home for their setting apart as missionaries for the church!

they officially began their mission monday!

they will be in the provo MTC for 2 weeks, and then off to Equador to serve the Lord as temple workers.

they are such a wonderful team and will do so well down there.

if only we could visit...

3. jumped over to a cousin's house for a quick visit.

and it just so happened that that bunch of siblings/cousins (mayers) were all there together!

we got 3 for the price of 1!

4. lastly, went to a friend's house for games and chatting with the kimballs, hibberts, and gustafsons.

it's just so great to have so many other friends who are married with no kids like us.

we can just talk and talk.

i'm really going to miss these people

5. back to the grandparents,
grandma fran is known for GAMES.

she is a gameaholic.
she's also a rule natzi but we don't hold that against her :)

seriously.

she puts my enthusiasm for games to shame.

we love her so much.

last weekend we played rummikub
(if anyone EVER comes across a decent priced 6 player set of rummikub BUY IT FOR ME, they do exist but are rare and more expensive)

grandpa is also super sweet when he plays with emma.
emma adores him.

did i mention last weekend at the setting apart that it was just 8 of the grandkids in their 20's there to be with them.

6. also last weekend we went to IKEA.

we bought cinnamon rolls before we began walking around so casey would have a better time while walking through that maze.

totally worked.

we found a few items that are closer to the top of our list than the bottom for the future.

randomly when we got home we had a little fun with the camera,

realizing we were both actually dressed upish at the same time on a saturday,

it's game day

it's friday, friday...

but really, we're are so happy it's friday!

today's friday means gameday:

wahoo!

we're trying to celebrate games days in the cutler household by making everything better/more fun that day.

example:

cougar pancakes.

we've also decided that we will never have normal looking pancakes again.

they must always have at least food coloring, sprinkles, or awesome shapes added to them.

yay for pancakes.

this coming weekend includes:
listening to a prophet's voice.
my brother coming into town with a special friend.
meeting that special friend.
sibling dinner.
drive up the canyon.
working (boo).
cleaning the car,
homemade kettle popcorn.
cinnamon rolls and/or lion house rolls (thank you bread machine!)
workin' on the puzzle.
relaxin.

small recap of the weekend

our sunday started out awesome:

we learned our car got broken into:

stolen phone.

our sunday truly did end out awesome though:

a wonderful 3 hours of church.

our saturday

saturday was quite the eventful day for us

we woke up at 7 (on a saturday!? i know, terrible) to start getting ready for dancesport!

by 7:30 casey we were at the ballroom in the wilke and casey was practicing all his moves for his big debut!

he is in the beginning level social dance class here at BYU (and loves it:)

the 180 classes always compete cha cha, and casey did so good!

the 1st round had 12 heats of probably 20 or so couples in each heat, which, yes, was still long but so fun

the 1st time they stood right in front of me and danced but i just watched, i should have taken pics though bc in the next 2 rounds they were way far from me (casey said it was better floor space).

him and his partner were just having fun, which was even more fun to watch

after the 3rd round we raced to his intramural flag football game which means he missed the 4th round they had been called back to :(

casey was a little bummed out he couldn't keep dancing, but football takes priority, ha

luckily they also won their football game!

casey actually had a really good game with some key interceptions, catches, and flag pulling.

twas freezing but still fun to watch

after the football game, i drove 20 min to Lehi to work on a slave labot project for a class-

literally slave labor.

an hour later i drove back to dancesport to compete myslef in pre champ smooth, twas fun to dance.

after i competed we watched the colorado get dominated by byu in the football game.

then i drove back to lehi to keep working on that project.

at 5:30 it started getting too dark to work, so with half our project finished we left.

once home, it was only 6:30, but casey and i could have sworn it was 10:30.

so we stayed in, watched a movie, and just hung out together.

woo, what a busy saturday! glad that is over!

a saturday in october

we had quite a fun saturday.

it started with sleeping in way too long- which is always a wonderful feeling when you can do it together.

casey then made some scrambled eggs for us while i made some treats.

not too long after our late breakfast we got together with cousins for a fun little lunch.

i just love getting together with family, practically any excuse and i'm there.

we had lots of yummy food, lots of cute kids to entertain us, lots of catching up on all the families as well as the families that weren't there that we learned about.

casey is like the pied piper- i swear kids flock to him and he genuinely enjoys playing with them, it's always so fun to watch him!

and of course a little bit of the byu game.

we listened to the first half up to the last 5 minute on the radio with everyone and it seemed kinda good!

then we got in the car to go home and it went downhill from there, poor cougars.

after listening to the rest of the game we then cleaned a little bit,

went to home depot for part of a project i'm doing,

picked up crazy bread at little caesar's,

picked out pumpkins at macey's,

and then for casey's most favorite activity we've done probably since before we were married:

Nickle City.

to say casey was in heaven is an understatement.

for a date, we were going to play all types of video games and stuff.

casey went a long time ago on a date and had always wanted us to go, but it'd never worked out.

finally, he called it a date, invited another couple (the roy's), and suddenly i was willing to go

gaming isn't my thing- i'm close to being an anti-gaming person in fact.

it in fact was pretty fun, and it was fun to watch casey and how happy he was playing all these games for nickles.

i was done after an hours or 2, casey could have stayed all day long :)

after Nickle City, we went back to our place to play the wii game just dance  and picked up ice cream cones from mcdonald's for the heck of it.

it was a really fun saturday that i can assuredly say that we both had a great time doing all of it.

weekend did's

what a busy friday and saturday we had!

here's is the low down:

friday

7:30-1:30 pm- went to a golfing tournament thing for my major to meet/golf with a bunch of employers!

fun indeed and i improved my game of golf indeed. poor casey had class and research during that time

2 pm- dance class

3 pm- go home, meet up with casey, take a short nap

4 pm- dance class

5 pm- drive back to the golf resort and go to an opening social for my major with casey, twas fun :)

7 pm- race around getting ready to drive up to Bountiful to go to my cousin's reception (Steven Beckstrand)

i know, horrible blurry picture that i didn't realize was so horrible but i still want it documented.

so excited for these 2!

9 pm- on our way driving home- we realized we didn't really have any other plans for the night so we stopped at the Bountiful temple bc it was just beautiful there on the hill in all its whiteness. i love how vibrantly white the temples are in the night. we walked around and just talked and laughed like we were dating. good little memories we made :)

on our drive home i fell asleep pretty quickly and casey was the good husband a drove.

he always drives and i always get to sleep! sorry love, but thanks for driving

once we got to orem he decided it necessary to stop at the new winco in town!

we have testimonies of winco from CA.

he picked up lots of cheap granola and of course his chocolate covered gummy bears.

i stayed sleeping in the car while he went in :)

i was pretty much a walking zombie after the car ride home and fell immediately to sleep again.

saturday

i was able to go to a fun baby shower in the ward in the morning and take a fun saturday test at the testing center.

during that time casey took his 1st practice DAT test! crazy days coming ahead of us!

casey's dad arrived soon after all that was done and we went to yummy costa vida for lunch.

i then drove them to the byu football game so they could get there sooner, 

came back home to drop the car off and walked to the game to meet them!

dumb game. they lost.

going to the rs broadcast would probably have been a better use of my time...lightning will soon strike me 

immediately following the game though we had stadium clean-up.

yes, that means we cleaned up the trash in the stadium (east bleachers). yuck.

again, for my major. 

casey was a good husband and stayed to help me. it was more fun with him there :)

we were exhausted and starving by the time it was done but we still had to walk 20 minutes home!

the walk home was pretty funny though, i can't even recall what we were laughing so hard about except for the fact that we were! i love those times.

we got home put our stuff down and raced out the door to the car to realize we locked ourselves out of our apt and the car keys still in the apt, haha, luckily we could still laugh at this point and weren't mad :)

coincidentally our landlord was outside at the time randomly and let us back in.

we then were able to get keys to our car, race to little caesar's and get pizza and crazy bread. so worth all $5.

after scarfing down all food imaginable, we played just dance, watched a movie, and stayed up way too late.

all in all, i think we can say that we enjoyed our friday and saturday.


ps- i'm very grateful that i you can have the capability to create a mormon tabernacle choir playlist on pandora :)

weekend 7

yes, we took a little trip to "happy" san francisco :)

we loved it.

we loved the company (each other).

 we loved the sights.

we loved the weather.

we loved the food.

we loved our little trip

we did not love the lines, traffic, or money spent, but the before mentioned aspects over-ruled the latter

so excited to be on our way!!!

i just love the streets! steep hills with cute colored houses, same architecture, different details, so cute!

we had yummy clam chowder breadbowls for dinner,

i spilt mine all over the front of me, it was pretty ridiculous

to end our fun day together we went and saw WICKED!

we just loved it!!!

so there it is, weekend 7 was spent in san francisco!
