An inaugural VLOG for my BLOG

Things are getting a little changed around here! I've started a new public instagram account, @sliceofkimber as well as joining in to sharing doTERRA essential oils! Hold the phone, hippie oils? I know, right?! But just hear me out! It's a lot of new stuff and feelings and opinions behind it all so I wanted to share it video style with you all!



So head on over to sliceofkimber on instagram, you can see my February oils promo, ends in just a couple days! And all next week is HAIR week on the gram with a few special contributors sharing their expertise knowledge! It's going to be really fun.

If you want to learn more about oils (like I said, just give it a chance! Just listen to a class once!) Drop me a message in some form and I we'll find a class time that works best for you, just you and me chatting or a small class or whatever. I'm flexible if you're flexible. Remember oils ARE NOT just for hippies. They're for normal people like me (and you!) and I promise you can find a use for them and need them in your home for one reason or another!

Father's day and a special birthday video

With it being Father's Day yesterday I thought it appropriate to share this little video I made for my dad's 60th birthday this last week. Max and I have watched it a ton and I think the rest of my family was very happy to watch as well. Happy birthday dearest daddy!

But a big Happy Father's Day to my hunk of burning love. Nothing makes you appreciate someone more than them being one, and baby, after having you gone the past 5 days, I am so glad to have the father of our home back in action!

Casey was the best ever to cooperate and wear a bow tie to match with boys on father's day (when we celebrated it early). There's a first for everything! Muah!

And can't not mention my amazing father in law, love that man so very much and feel so lucky to be apart of his family and have him as a grandparent for my children!

Newborn twins: a video

Our (very rough and very homemade) video of the twins from their first few hours and days alive. Also the first time Maxson gets to meet them as well as hold them! I've watched this video a million times and have all the words memorized and I know I will cherish these 3 minutes oh so very much in the future. Do enjoy!

We love watching these videos, especially Maxson, they are some of his favorites! Our favorite part is Maxson's laughing right before 7 minutes. We love that little boy!

Getting pumped up for babies.

Have I ever mentioned how Maxson is OBSESSED with the home videos we make? Seriously, he pays more straight up attention to those than anything else in life. His eyes are glued. He laughs at silly things, he says "no no" on naughty moments or sad moments. His new thing is starting the throw a crying fit when it's time for the video-Maxson to go to sleep. Like tears you guys. He doesn't want it to end. It's super funny.

Well today we were looking at a picture of some babies online (Casey's cousin who had twins a little over a month ago!) and Maxson caught up a glimpse of them and wanted to see more and more! He really does love babies. So I pulled up the 2 videos of him when he's 2-3 months and 4-6 months and he was entranced. He snuggled so close to my face, he giggled at funny parts, he kept pointing and exclaiming "baby!" I kept trying to tell him those videos were of him when he was a baby but I highly doubt he got that. But oh man you guys, watching those videos got me SOOOOOOOOOO excited for these two little boys to come!!!!

At this stage with Maxson I just keep thinking how rather easy it is compared to times in the past: he helps get things for me, he wipes his hands off, he throws (with great force) his dishes in the sink, he opens and closes doors for me, he entertains himself a lot, he truly interacts with me and exchanges words and emotions, etc. It's just so much stinking fun.

And I've been comparing this to what it's like to have  new little baby. Don't get me wrong, I remember babies are cute and cuddly and squishable, but I also remember that they are a lot of work. So many more diaper changes, they want to be held a ton, sometimes they cry and you don't know why, they kinda just lay there for a long time, can't really entertain themselves, definitely no help in the cleaning up department, a little interaction but not interaction like a 2 year old, it's just different. But watching those videos got me SO PUMPED up to be having babies again. They're cute sweetness is overwhelming, watching them grow is incredible, they're so cuddly, they don't make mischief, they're just so sweet!!!! Ah, I cannot wait you guys!!!!

And continuing to watch Max interact with babies right now gets me really excited to be bringing monkeys home to him. We put the pack n play up in our room and other than the fact that he really wants to get in it, he loves to throw put his baby doll in it. Like I said in the videos, he loves to point at them and gets really excited when he sees babies in general. I'm a little worried about the over smothering part and the babies getting boring to him part and the mom is cuddling too much with them i'm jealous part. But eh, we'll deal with it when it comes.

recently i went through my computer and cleaned up a bunch of the pictures to put on the back up hard drive to help my computer run faster. what prevents me from doing this more often is videos. you see, once the videos are off my computer and only on my backup hard drive it's hard to make these little videos. but sometimes i'm lazy and just never get around to making these videos. somehow i got june done whiz bang fast which means my computer is now lovely empty for more photos and videos to be downloaded. i present to you june 2014, maxson is 18 months old.

video: this is what we do all day

here's a little video i put together of a normal day at home with maxson. a little bit of our routine and just everyday activities. it's kinda long but casey and i just loved watching it, because of course, to us, maxson is the cutest and funniest child in the whole wide world (ha, i hope every parents feels like this with their little ones). i'm glad i put the effort into this video (this one took more effort than they usually do because there were SO many clips and i had to go through and only pick out little bits and pieces) but i know casey and i will love looking back at it.

so here is maxson, 19 months old on july 3.
i've watched this video so many times for editing reasons and pure enjoyment reasons and i still laugh at the same parts that you can hear me laughing at during the video. i wanted to edit my background voice out of these but chose not to because that's apart of life, my commentary to maxson's life and actions, even if i do sound so totally silly. 

bonus: at the end when casey puts max in his crib to go to sleep you can faintly hear maxson saying "uh oooh, uh oooh" his version of "love you" and my heart just melts at those 2 sounds.

home video time

i've noticed that once i store videos nd pictures on my back up hard drive from recent years/months it's never as easy to just watch through the videos. so i'm going to start just making big collaborations at some of the highlighted moments of these videos in one long video like and old school home video, a bunch of little things put together so in the future, we can look through them real quick. these videos are way long and i really don't expect anyone to watch through them except casey and myself when we're feeling nostalgic. but you can watch if you like! (vimeo made me split the video up, mmeh)

well we went to the children's museum and had a blast.

it is to be noted that sometimes i have blinders on when it comes to pictures/videos when my child is around.

my SIL and her two sweet kids were there the whole time, the 4 year old was so fast and uninterested in 1 year old activities i didn't get him in a single video :( and the almost 2 year old is in only a couple videos because our kids were constantly running different directions. i don't know how moms go and bring 4 kids, how do you watch them all!?

BAHAMA BUCKS loving

with this trip to bahama bucks we knew we wanted to get baby maxson to try it out!
the first time we went he was asleep the whole time, so we'll count this as his first REAL bahama bucks experience.
he could have cared less about the whole excursion but we loved taking him there with the little girls.
annalee and phoebe always look forward to going to bahama bucks when we come to town, it's the fun thing they get to do specially because of us.

but here's maxson's first little taste of the goodness!
