granny comes to town part 1

Seriously having my mom in town was the best thing ever. It literally felt like a vacation to me. I didn't wash a single bottle for a week and a half. I slept in almost everyday. My kids were still on their normal routines and sleeping arrangements. I barely did any dishes ( I did do a lot of cooking but I like the cooking aspect, and she doesn't mind the cleaning up aspect so we worked well together) I was able to go to the store and other fun activities with Max and friends pretty much whenever I wanted. She truly is an angel and I feel so lucky she'd come help and literally serve us for over a week. That woman never stopped working, I swear. All those things around my house like cleaning and organizing and repairing and fixing wise that in my mind I'd say I'd get to them sometime, she did them all. She's absolutely amazing. AND I had an extra set of hands to help with the kids, golden. Thank you, mom. You are the best woman ever.

Straight from the airport we headed to COSTCO! Oh how I love thee Costco, I so badly wish I lived closer to one (tear emoji). The babies became ravenous half way through Costco and we had to stop for a snack break. Love these little spoons to add to the squeeze pouches. Whenever Maxw ould get samples the babies would try to grab at it, he quickly learned to hold his food high above his head, it was super cute.
And a few people have asked how I get 3 to sit in one cart: Max gets the middle two leg holes, the babies outside foot each gets one and their inside foot closest to Max is bent up on the bench. Works like a charm. Still crazy to me I have 3 small children.

One day we took my mom over to a dairy farm nearby for a tour. Last year we went to their actual Prairyland Dairy Days, this year they so very sadly cancelled the event. I was super bummed to hear that because it is so much fun. We took a tour with a local little moms grip my friend invited me to. Max was Max, running everywhere and not that interested in what was going down. At the end I wondered if it was even worth going. I know it was, but it's still a lot of work.
5 day old baby cow.

My friend's little girl was the flipping BOMB and put an iron clasping fist on Maxson's hand at one point so he wouldn't run away. She was the best.
Inside the milking area.

Went on a walk to East Campus where Max rode his bike around everywhere like a champ. He a rockstar on that thing. I am a full supporter of Strider bikes, if you've contemplated them FOR SURE get them over a regular bike with training wheels!
Insisted he wear his backpack so then he looked all old a mature like he was legitimately going to school.

The hydrangeas on campus are beautiful!

Going on a date.

A night out on the town without kiddies in tow is a rare find. Ahhhh, but that is life.

A few weeks ago we had a day "date" with children in tow (let's be honest that's not a real date, cackle, cackle.). Ah, but we will continue with it being called as such. We went to COSTCO! (whenever we say Costco, we say it very loud an enthusiastically to let Max know it is a super fun place, he follows with a loud enthusiastic yell of some sort trying to say the word and totally not). Going to Costco was what felt like a whole day excursion. It took about half the day but that in turn wore us out for the other half of the day.  We do love Costco. And actually on the drive there we got a solid hour talking time with no interruption! That totally counts as a date. And on the way back we listened to the recent worldwide devotional for young adults. Very spiritually uplifting, it's a long one but find the time to listen to it and you'll be so happy you did!
Our hot lunch date at Costco.
BUT THEN last weekend we went on a REAL DATE! Like no kids, date, it was AMAZING! I felt young and free again, actually only kind of young and free because I still worried abut the children…sound asleep in their beds for the evening. Ha, ya, we didn't leave until they were all asleep in the evening. It was as if the babies knew we were wanting to go out because they gave us a hard time going to sleep and they never had done that before for evening sleep, that was weird.

But we went ice skating downtown! It was really fun (if you forget about how awful the ice was, how uncomfortable the skates were, and how all our afterwards-dessert places didn't work out). It was fun to just be together and be us again. Oh how I love us, I miss that phrase.

Oh hey Max!

And we ended our hot date at the grocery store (for doughnuts for Kimber THAT THEY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE ANYMORE).
Thanks, Katie, for sitting at our house with the sleeping children!

We've decided too make a bigger effort at finding one night a weekend for some kind of date time be that out and about or just a red box movie. I'm telling ya, we need that time together, and if we don't intentionally set time aside for us, we won't do it.

costco

can i just say, i love costco.
yes i do.
i love nearly everything about it.
most of all when i shop there i look at all the possibilites i could buy of things and get so happy! but then i realize either my tiny family of 2 will get sick of all 100 lbs of it before it is gone or it will go bad before our tiny family of 2 can eat it all up.

also, i see everyone's carts around me OVERFLOWING with food and things and all i buy is 1 cantaloupe (which 1 package is three cantaloupes). i kinda feel like a poser in costco if you know what i mean :)

is anyone else noticing costco is really into organic things lately? i guess that's good right?

so,
costco gets me excited for when there's a big family around and lots of eating going on and i can buy huge and large quantities of yumminess.

yay :)

costco was one of the best wedding gifts we got,
thanks B. and J. P. :)

fact: costco is super busy on saturdays
fact: they have way more samples out on saturdays than any other day
solution: go on saturday without a cart, just pick up like 2 things and taste all the samples

haha this was part of our grocery shopping errands on saturday and we loved it
we wanted to buy about 60% of the things we tried!
so thank you costco for letting me taste what i should have
and thank you for letting me buy in bulk
